Pro Series Sand Filters
Pro Series Sand Filters are the easiest filters to use. They
work by passing the water through sand which traps the dirt.
Hayward Pro Series Filters are specifically designed to
allow for an even dispersal of unfiltered water through the
sand for greatest filtration.
As dirt gets trapped in the sand, the filter pressure will
rise from 12 lbs. to 20 lbs. When this occurs simply rotate
the patented seven position control valve from "filter" to
"backwash". Watch the sight glass untill the water flows clear.
Then change the control valve to "rinse" and finally back to
"filter". Make sure to ALWAYS turn the motor off whenever moving the position valve
As the water flows over the sand, it becomes smooth. This
reduces the filtration ability as dirt can more easily slip through.
For this reason it is recomended that the sand be replaced every
season.
Sand Filters will not clog quickly with a cloudly pool and will
not require the added attention that Earth and Cartdridge
Filters do. This also means that Sand Filters will need to
run longer to clear a cloudy pool and will often need
clairifyers to aid the filter in trapping small particles.
